I have always had a passion to work with children. After completing a teachers’ degree I started working in a high school. Some years after that, I met a woman who had also been a teacher, but had changed careers and was working as the director of the Department of Social Services. At that time I too decided to change jobs and started working for the same department. It was while doing this job that I saw the need to have a centre for abandoned children.
The beginning of this dream was realised in April 1999, when with two other friends I rented a small house to accommodate 16 children who had been living on the streets. Looking back over the years there have been many mountains to climb, barriers to overcome, heartaches and joy, but at the heart of it all is the precious children.
